You are your own true north.
You have a wise, intuitive guide deep inside.
This guide knows exactly who you are, what you value, and what you can do. It's like your own special compass that helps you navigate the world, connect with people, and find fulfillment.
Somewhere along the way, your inner guide may have gotten buried under layers of external pressures and expectations the world has placed on you. You may have been told you couldn't do something you love, couldn't express your feelings, couldn't be who you are.
At True North, we know your inner compass is still there, ready to guide you as you navigate what feels hard right now.
We're here to help you peel back the layers and reconnect with that wise inner knowing so you can follow your own path forward.

We care for ourselves
while caring for you.
I'm Sonya Slater, founder of True North. Our two main goals are providing good care and a good work space. And they go hand in hand.
In grad school, I focused on business and severe mental illness, feeling sure I'd never work in private practice. After completing my internship and postdoc in community mental health, I started working as the training director at a clinic.
I loved focusing on developing students and watching them grow, but with a growing family of my own, the time commitment became too much. I decided to try private practice so I could keep supporting people while also spending more time on my family life.
As I made this change, I started to notice how common it was for therapists to feel buried under large caseloads and become burned out. I decided to start my own practice, a community where therapists could focus on their clients without having to worry about the business side of things.
I believe in helping our therapists maintain a manageable caseload while still getting paid well, which gives them more space and capacity to support the clients they do see.
All humans deserve care, us included.

Are you a therapist interested in joining our practice?
We're always interested in hearing from therapists who feel like they'd fit right in. If that's you, please reach out and tell us a little about yourself! We're excited to hear from you.
